About silk painting
Lili is a firm believer that materials possess their own cultural voice. Much like botanicals that traverse continents to find new soil, art materials also undertake such journeys. With its profound ties to Eastern art history, silk has long served as a quiet preserver of cultural stories. Therefore, painting botanical art on silk offers a compelling opportunity to integrate Eastern and Western painting techniques and, in doing so, to meticulously document the abundant beauty of plant life.
In this workshop, participants will be taught how to prepare the silk material for painting (so that you can continue your practice even after the workshop) and also how to paint on silk.
Lili will provide a variety of botanical painting samples for inspiration and guide everyone in a step-by-step process of painting on silk, from preparing and stretching the silk to applying basic painting techniques.
Throughout the 2 days, she will share practical tips and insights to help participants confidently complete their silk botanical artwork. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have your botanical silk painting — and you're welcome to complete it at home with Lili’s consulting online.
